‘Hey how are you? Such a long time no see! I hope you are well and doing ok with all the challenges from the last year. What’s new?’
That’s what I want to say to the whole world. It has been a year of lack of connection on so many levels. Part of the lack of connection on this site is most definitely down to me. The pandemic certainly took a toll on my productivity. It isn’t that I haven’t been listening and planning podcasts its more that I haven’t had the drive to finish things and so I have a bit of a backlog.
It has been a rollercoaster with long periods of lethargy and then bursts of creativity. Of course, even in those creative periods they didn’t lead to much finished content because of all the extra challenges on our time during the last year.
So this is a quick post about what I have been up to and what is in the works:
Stories for Grace Rene
I had to check my records to see how long ago episode 4 was release and it was actually last September! I had no idea so much time had passed!
Better late than never I have the audio for Episode 5. I can confirm it will be a further interview with Grace’s Grandpa. It focuses on more details from his childhood and his journey home to Nigeria. I don’t have a confirmed date for release but it will be in April, watch this space and I will let you know when it drops!
What if We’re Wrong?
I have been working on a lot of things related to the What if We’re Wrong? Podcast as part of the overall project for Action for Education Equity. There are so many threads to unpick and so many rumors swirling around about the district it is definitely slower than I would like, but slow and steady wins the race right? Right????? I really hope so!
Huge good news was that NY State decided to fully implement a school district funding model that will bring equitable funding to the Rochester City School District. This has been such a long fight – 20+ years that it was almost unbelievable when it was finally announced. The funding will increase over the next 3 years to a level where hopefully students can finally get the support they need.
This was a big piece of the puzzle for Action for Education Equity so there has been some significant celebrations. Some of which I have recorded to hear on the podcast!
Mulberry Bush Project
Some may be asking where is this series? I did release several episodes last year. At that time we understood the sing-along would be on pause for a few weeks while we all ‘Flattened the curve’.
As the weeks turned to months it became clear that we could not sustain the show while taking over childcare rolls and managing all the things that happen when our worlds become so small. So the episodes stayed up with no update.
Last Autumn it became clear we would not be focusing on it for a while so I took those episodes down. It is not gone for good (I hope) just on a long hibernation which I think won’t end until its possible to bring young children back together for an in person outdoor sing-along. Since at the time of writing it’s not clear when that will be it will stay in hibernation until that point.
Well that’s what I have been up to, I would love to hear what you have been working on or what you are most excited about in my upcoming work. Drop a comment below to let me know how things have been.
